About Living Landscapes
Living Landscapes has been creating outdoor living spaces along the New Jersey Coast for more than 25 years.
We garden in a lovely, still fairly rural part of New Jersey that borders on the rugged Pine Barrens to the west and Long Beach Island, an 18-mile stretch of barrier-island to the east. We have the best of both worlds – the pristine peace of piney woods and the wind and waves along wild shores.
In addition, our more than 25 years of experience landscaping in this sometimes hostile seashore environment have taught us which plants will thrive here, ensuring the success of each landscape project.
Gardening is a challenge both in the woods and on the water. As landscapers, we realize that helping our clients maintain a healthy, vibrant landscape is just as important as designing one, so we’ve retained a number of gifted pruners and devoted gardeners to head our Maintenance Division. Their mission is to bring our landscape designs to fruition and they do so, beautifully!
Our Landscape & Maintenance services feature native and seashore appropriate plants as well as earth friendly methods to protect the health and safety of our waterways, our clients and our employees.
Landscape Designer Ken Warfield
Our landscape clients reap the benefits of owner Ken Warfield’s life work as a dedicated landscape designer and nurseryman – the finest plants, seasoned advice and inspired yet functional design.
In high school, Ken fell in love with landscape design when he began working part-time for a New Jersey landscaping company. Sitting in a college calculus class, Ken dreamed up the name, Living Landscapes, which he began using when he opened his own business.
In college, Ken studied soil sciences and achieved a degree in Environmental Science. After many years of operating a well-known and successful garden center and creating and installing landscape designs in the Ocean County area, he decided to concentrate the company’s energies once again on his first love, landscape design and installation.
